KATHMANDU (Reuters) - For decades a rare fungus valued as an aphrodisiac and dubbed "Himalayan Viagra" has been a source of income for poor villagers in Nepal's remote Himalayan foothills. Men, women and children stream into high meadows every year to harvest the fungus called Yarsagumba, which grows from dead moth larvae. High quality specimens fetch thousands of dollars a kilo. But experts say the fungus, found only above 3,500 meters (11,480 feet), is under threat and yields are falling, threatening the livelihood of thousands of people who depend on it for up to 70 percent of their income. ... read more..

Emotional Hunger-Blood Sugar-Cravings-Diet
Determine what you’re really hungry for.
The next time you get a craving, ask yourself if you’re stressed, sad, or bored. If so, you may be eating to fill an emotional void. Keep a “desire diary” for a week or more, and note your mood whenever you’re hit by an irresistible urge to chow down. If stress is your trigger, exercise more to relieve the pressure. If loneliness drives you to the Doritos bag, call someone. Remember that true hunger is easy to satisfy; any food will do.Emotional hungerOn the other hand, often manifests itself in desires for specific things like ice cream and fast food.
Get off the energy roller coaster.
A second big cause of ravenous cravings is a diet that’s too full of refined carbohydrates, which can produce drops in blood sugar that prompt hunger. If you have a doughnut for breakfast, you’ll get a nice jolt of energy from the sugar and simple carbs, but by mid-morning, you’ll be craving more. To stabilize blood sugar and appetite, start eating more protein and fiber. Tomorrow, try eggs and whole wheat toast for breakfast or a bowl of fiber-rich cereal with nuts, and see how easily you make it to lunch.
Many people think they’re hungry when they’re actually thirsty. Drink a glass of water and wait a few minutes to see if your craving subsides.
Distract yourself.
Taste buds have a very short attention span. Pop a mint, brush your teeth, check e-mail, call a friend, or take a walk. In many cases, you’ll find you weren’t really hungry. read more..

Stone Soup Foodworks-University Of Ottawa-Healthy Food Truck-Healthy Eating
Every month, Ottawa Public Health will profile organizations or businesses in the Ottawa area that lead by example; members of the community that promote healthy eating or active living. This first post in the series highlights local entrepreneur Jacqueline Jolliffe.Jacqueline Jolliffe is the chef and owner of an innovative and healthy food truck, with a mission to connect people with real food. Joliffe is known for her delicious soups and chilis, while also offering tacos and sandwiches. Her converted chip truck sources sustainable, local ingredients from nearby producers and growers. Joliffe says, “Some of the foods I serve are organic and can be more expensive, but local foods that are in season are often cheaper. Therefore, I use seasonal foods as much as possible.” The Stone Soup Foodworks truck is parked at the University of Ottawa during the school year and is on the move to festivals throughout the city during the summer months. Jolliffe also provides catering services and recently catered a children’s event for 200 people out of her food truck.Jolliffe, a former teacher, has always had a love for healthy food. She participated in Ottawa Public Health’s Community Food Advisor Program where she enhanced her knowledge about healthy eating and shared this with local organizations through food demonstrations and healthy eating presentations. In addition to serving up delicious, healthy food, Stone Soup Foodworks offers cooking classes and supplies soup to women’s shelters. The next step for her business is to add a fixed location to make it easier to receive deliveries, cater large events and host workshops. Personal Care Products-Abortion Clinic-Abortion Rights-Beauty Products-Local Hospital
TUPELO, Mississippi (Reuters) - Mississippi's sole abortion clinic won a court battle on Friday to stay open while it challenges the constitutionality of a new state law requiring its doctors to have local hospital admitting privileges. The law, which abortion rights advocates say is a thinly veiled attempt to ban abortions in Mississippi, has threatened to make Mississippi the only U.S. state without such a facility. The law requires doctors who perform abortions to be board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology, and to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital. ... read more..

Health Care Provider-Air Conditioning-Smoke Levels
Who is most at risk?
- Children (they breathe more often, so exposure is heavier)
- Seniors (whose natural defenses against Particulate Matter are more limited)
- Pregnant women-If you are pregnant, your healthcare provider has the best advice for you because he/she knows about your condition.
- People who already have chronic heart or lung conditions
- People who are very active doing work or sports outside
- Your body will try to protect itself against the smoke particles by making more tears and mucous. This can cause runny noses, scratchy throat, irritated sinuses and headaches. If the smoke is heavy and lasts for days or weeks, you may also develop a cough.
- People who already have heart or lung problems may feel the effects of smoke earlier and worse than others in the community.
- If it looks smoky outside, it is best to refrain from outdoor physical activity and a good time to stay indoors
- Keep windows closed and fresh air intakes closed
- If smoke is affecting your breathing or making you uncomfortable in others ways, move to a less smoky area. Homes can get really hot with the windows closed. If you go indoors to get out of the smoke, be sure that the temperature indoors doesn’t create additional problems for you. Use air-conditioning if it is available and be sure to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
- If you have an HEPA air cleaner that will reduce levels of small particles in indoor air, use it and stay in the room where it is located.
- Use air conditioning in cars and keep windows closed.
- Avoid smoke producing appliances such as wood stoves and even candles
- Do not smoke tobacco inside – smoking puts added stress on your lungs and those around you
- If you have asthma or other respiratory condition, be vigilant about avoiding smoke and taking your prescribed medicine. Speak with you health care provider.
- Seek medical treatment if you have uncontrolled coughing, wheezing or choking, or if breathing difficulty does not subside indoors
- When visibility is worse, generally the worse the smoke.
- Tune into local media for details and updates on local conditions.
